Never before, have I been to this castle
yet I seem to know it
the sounds, the smells,
The voices, I’ve heard in my dreams
the past pulls at me
I touch a cold, stone wall
time slips, and I find myself there
a ghost among ghosts
I reach out, grasping air
Time folds back, I am here and now
Yet, the memories remain
both sweet and bitter
Wonderfully evocative, Karen.

Thank you. Castles evoke most everyone’s imagination. I think of the people who lived during that time. I wonder how they felt, their loves and loses.

They certainly do. If you’d like to know something, I’m just off on a huge castle quest around North Wales:

I once stayed in a castle on a school trip complete with the haunting howls of the resident German Shephard…the beautiful image and your fairy-tale words bring back memories as well!

Hi Sue, thank you. I love castles. When I’ve visited England, I spent days looking at castles. The history is so fascinating.

Lovely poem, Karen. The play with folding time is wonderful and a great take on the prompt.

Hi D. Wallace Peach, Thank you so much for your comment. Karen is my sister. People get us confused all of the time.We both put a hand to prose, poems etc. from time to time. (no pun intended :o) )

Isn’t that funny that I wrote the wrong name. Well, you both must be talented then. đ
