A Must Read

WildCherlyStrayedWild by Cheryl Strayed

From lost to found on the Pacific Crest Trail  5 Stars!

This is a gut wrenching memoir of a young women’s search for meaning and self discovery.  It is without a doubt the best memoir I’ve ever read. Cheryl’s voice is so real; her honesty is profound. After reading it I was obsessed for days about hiking and I almost bought a pair of trail boots…  Every emotion known to humans comes through her words in exquisite detail…a wonder of a novel!

  1. You almost bought trail boots until you found out how hard it is to find them with four inch heels! Right?

  2. A similar, but I would imagine a considerably more humorous read is “A Walk In The Woods” by Bill Bryson. While the Appalachian Trail may be a bit funnier than the Pacific Crest, I’m sure that it’s no less introspective. Another good read.

      1. If a hiking group is forming and you wouldn’t mind a token male to fight off bears and spiders, please consider me. I could also carry the group’s library!

  3. Bahaaaahaaa…snort…token males are de rigueur naturally, but we prefer you carry a Barbecue grill for meals and a battery operated blender for margaritas, we’ll bring the salt ! ;o)

    1. Being virile, strong and resourceful, I can easily provide those services, and any others required, as well as being an amiable companion. A change of underwear may be required due to all of the bahaaaahaaing, snorting and outright belly laughing that will be done, until we get lost on the trail. When that happens, you ladies will have to be the ones who ask for directions.

      1. Spoken like a true male: You guys hate to ask for directions! Hahaaa
But far be it for a true hiker to turn down the prospect of virility and resourcefulness… ;o)

      2. Although I have a very strong feminine side to my brain, I am not female, intersexual or a hermaphrodite. Therefore, I must be male and speak as such. (FB message) Which leg of the Triple Crown of Hiking do you plan to do first, as a true hiker, to begin your memoir?

      3. I want my family to recognize me, and they won&8#217;t if I look like Jessica Alba.Plus, the guys who lust after her so much tend not to the be kind of guy I want anyway.
